Mom, entrepreneur, terrible cook.
You are in the best hands. Why? Because I suck at all other things adults are supposed to be good at. But getting your little ones sleeping and behaving in a way that makes you feel proud and well-rested....those are my superpowers. You deserve the very best sleep coach. You deserve the very best parent coach. I happen to be both. Just don't ask me for advice on anything else!

Is there crying involved?
Yep. And rather than sugar coat it and coddle you, I give my clients the respect of being very transparent from the beginning: Crying will happen, it will suck, and then it will pass. We will go over the details in the online course as well as in my private coaching. But the short answer is: The idea that crying is dangerous isn't remotely supported by data. What IS supported by data is that crying causes a stress inoculation, basically making crying the thing we know it to be: a healthy, normal human emotion that can come and go the same way feeling happy or bored comes and goes. Not a big deal and perfectly manageable. NO REASON to feel guilty or shame!!
My baby needs to be fed to sleep
Your baby does not NEED to be nursed or fed in order to sleep. They have a strong *preference* for that. But sleep training with me will teach them that they don't need to eat in order to fall asleep. I know it SEEMS impossible. It is not. If it were impossible, I would have to figure out a real adult job because this business would not work. And I have no real job skills so, trust me, this works even on babies who currently eat to fall asleep.
What about night feedings?
Here's the thing: Your baby (over 12 pounds and 12 weeks) no longer NEEDS to wake up to eat. They do need the calories at night in the first 12ish weeks but once their tummy is bigger and once they have a mature circadian rhythm, the MOTN wake-ups for food are not a NEED, they are a learned habit that will stick around as long as you allow it to stick around. If you are ready to sleep again, then I will explain more in the online course how that works. But basically, they do not need to wake up and eat anymore and they ALL adjust to this if you are following my directions. If that freaks you out, you can keep ONE feed at night as long as you are following my directions for how to keep one night feed.
Can we do this while room-sharing?
You can...but it is harder. You will need to create separation using a room divider and a really quality sound machine so your baby doesn't see you or hear you, basically making them think they are not in the same room as you. Unfortunately, babies can also SMELL you (especially if you are a nursing mother) so even if you have the room set up so they cannot see you or hear you, smelling you right there could be a bit of a dilemma. It is best if they can be in their own room.
Do you offer ongoing support?
The video lessons do not come with my support. The private coaching package does. I will (at some point) figure out fair pricing for per-question texting. But for now, it hasn't happened.
What about picky eating?
Yep. There is a whole lesson dedicated to fixing picky eating. It is appropriate for kids 2.5-6 years old.
What is the success rate?
1300+ families since 2001, I have a success rate of 94% for sleep and behavior training. That means two things:
1- I am not a jerk lying about success. Those who tell you they have a 100% success rate are lying, and that is gross. Yuck! You don't want to work with that person.
2- Not all babies get this. But nearly all of them do. Those who do not get the hang of this are so few and far between and they happen for mostly avoidable reasons. The biggest reason this won't work is if you are not following directions consistently. Other reasons are medical issues preventing behavior shaping methods from working, such as sleep apnea, ADHD, ASD, SPD etc.
Is sleep training dangerous?
Nope. No. Absolutely not. Not even a little. Wanna know why you believe that it will damage them? Because you have all been lied to. This is explained in detail in my online class, but in a nutshell, one person 35 years ago took the RESULTS of 3 different studies that were done on cortisol secretion in babies and children and concluded (incorrectly and unethically) that crying causes damage. What he didn't do, is reveal the context of the studies which was critical for understanding the outcomes and the conclusions he made. He wrote a book and build a massive following based on this false information. The authors of those studies have publicly asked him to stop citing their work out of context, misleading millions of vulnerable, scared parents.
Will this work for daycare babies?
For nights? Yes, it will not matter if your baby is in daycare. For naps though, it isn't going to work. Daycares are often going to have naps happening with lights on, in a room with babies who are awake and without a sound machine on. The environment alone means naps will likely be shorter and poorer quality than at home. But you can still nap train on weekends and nights.
Will this work for twins/siblings?
Same BASIC directions are going to apply to twins or siblings sharing a room, there is a lesson dedicated to going over the slight difference is directions I give.
Did I see an f-bomb!?
Probably. I am basically Mary Poppins when kids are within earshot. But when it's just us grown-ups, I am like Mary Poppins if she said fuck from time to time. Just, be mindful that when you watch my videos it will occasionally slip out and you should watch with headphones in, or after bedtime.
This is NOT for you if...
🚫 If you identify as an Attachment Parenting family.
🚫 If your baby or child has any diagnosis that prevents behavior modification programs from being effective without additional support/medication/medical attention.
🚫 If you are trying to find ways to sleep train and co-sleep at the same time.
🚫 You are not willing to endure discomfort (in the form of your little one crying) in order to get through to the other side where good sleep and behavior live.
Does PMJ™ have a political stance?
I am my business. My business is me. So yes, I have views I am transparent about on various platforms. I will serve all families who need me. But some families like to know the social values of the business they are supporting. For those who feel better knowing before you decide to sign up, I am a liberal Democrat. Very much aligned with BLM and anything concerning the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, Pro-Choice etc. I could go on, but I think you get it.
If that means you don't want help from me, you are more than welcome to work with somebody whose values are either hidden or whose values are aligned with yours. But this is who I am.
And ultimately sleep training is sleep training no matter who you voted for. But I get it if this matters one way or the other for you.
Does PMJ™ offer refunds?
REFUND POLICY FOR ANY ONLINE COURSE:
I will grant refunds on a case by case basis. If you are not seeing results, you are in the 6% of families who either didn't follow directions, or whose baby/child has some medical issue preventing behavior modification from being effective. I don't know if you followed directions or not, because this is an online course. Be honest with yourself before you reach out to me asking for a refund.
REFUND POLICY FOR ANY PRIVATE COACHING:
Private coaching is more expensive because it is MUCH more of my time and attention as we are working closely to resolve your child's sleep or behavior dilemma. If after 30 days (for sleep) or 45 days (for behavior), you have seen no improvement, I will offer you a 30% refund as well as free coaching until your problem is resolved.
Just email me and I will process the appropriate partial refund. [email protected]
I can tell you that in 23 years, with over 1300 families, I have been asked to give a refund 4 times. So they are not common and you are NOT likely to need one. Instead, you are likely to end up with a child who's sleep and/or behavior is MUCH improved or totally fixed!
